Grammy-winning producer and singer Pharrell has finally addressed Drake’s actions regarding his jewelry. In a recent interview with GG magazine (November 13), Pharrell was asked about Drake buying and then threatening to melt down his old jewelry. The conversation referenced Drake’s 2022 verse on Travis Scott’s “Meltdown,” where he rapped about melting the chains he bought from Pharrell, dismissing their legacy and history.
Pharrell shared his perspective on the auctioning of his own jewelry, saying, “You don’t realize how much all the stuff you have weighs on you, but it does. You don’t know it until you get rid of it… when you let that go, man, you feel so free.” Despite the public drama, Pharrell emphasized that at the core, Drake is “a fan of music” and appreciates the history behind the items.
When asked how he felt about Drake’s threat to melt the jewelry, Pharrell responded simply, “It didn’t.” The jewelry in question, which Drake purchased for $3.3 million, included notable pieces like a 14K three-tone N.E.R.D pendant chain, a white gold brain pendant, and a skateboard pendant. Drake was seen wearing them in his “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” video.
The verse reignited tensions between Drake and Pusha T, with Drake taking shots at both Pharrell and his Louis Vuitton collaboration, further fueling the ongoing rivalry.
