Edo State’s newly sworn-in governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced additional cabinet appointments.
According to Politics Nigeria, Okpebholo has appointed Barrister Musa Ikhilor as Secretary to the State Government (SGG), just hours after taking office on Tuesday. The announcement follows the appointment of Fred Itua as his Chief Press Secretary the day before.
Dr. Samson Osagie, a former federal legislator, has been named Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, son of ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole, will serve as the state’s new Health Commissioner. The senior Oshiomhole, currently a Senator for Edo North, played a key role in securing Okpebholo’s victory.
A statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary confirmed that Osagie and Oshiomhole’s appointments will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for approval.
