Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has explained why he won’t form a coalition with Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate.
In a recent appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Sowore expressed that Obi, whom he describes as just “better at packaging,” is not much different from other politicians he considers corrupt. Sowore emphasized that he has been running for the presidency long before Obi gained national recognition.
Sowore said, “Before Peter Obi became a household name, I was already running for president. He just knows how to package. Anyone can do that.”
He also made it clear that aligning with Obi would go against his principles. “If I join Peter Obi, I would be betraying everything I stand for. I can’t support any Nigerian leader who has held office but failed to deliver. Just like I wouldn’t have joined Atiku. In 2019, Peter Obi was Atiku’s VP candidate, and I was running for president. So, what’s the difference?”
Sowore concluded by asserting, “There is no lesser evil. If you’re evil, you’re evil. If you’re good, you’re good. I have a strong disdain for non-performance.”
