Kim Kardashian made a dazzling fashion statement this past weekend, debuting Princess Diana’s famous Amethyst Cross necklace at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles.
Nearly two years after acquiring the iconic piece at auction, the reality TV star and entrepreneur wore the stunning cross publicly for the first time. Kim paired the ornate, bejeweled necklace with an elegant ivory gown, styled with a matching ivory choker that mirrored Princess Diana’s signature look.
The Amethyst Cross, designed by Garrard, was originally loaned to Diana by Naim Attallah, who commissioned the pendant. Described as a Renaissance-inspired design, the cross is made of white gold and silver, adorned with amethysts and diamonds.
Diana’s most memorable appearance in the necklace was at a charity gala in 1987. Kim, however, added her own twist, shortening the pearl chain and pairing the cross with a stack of additional jewelry, including a six-strand pearl choker. Rather than matching the necklace’s purple hue, she used the cross to add a striking pop of color to her all-white ensemble.
