A police officer from the Otuocha Area Command in Anambra East Local Government Area, Anambra State, has fatally shot a young man in the community. Reports indicate that the shooting occurred during a disagreement over N100 at a checkpoint, where one officer quickly fired his weapon, killing the youth.
A source from Aguleri, Anambra East, shared this information along with a disturbing video of the deceased’s body. According to the source, the police squad involved was led by an officer named Onyebuchi. The incident took place on Saturday, prompting protests from local youths who were outraged by the police’s actions.
It remains unclear whether the conflict stemmed from a demand for a N100 bribe or the collection of change for a bribe that had already been paid, though police authorities have confirmed that the event occurred. In response to inquiries from DAILY POST, the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged the situation and stated that the command was taking action.
He confirmed that the officer involved has been identified as Inspector Sani Suleiman, who has since been disarmed and detained for further investigation and internal disciplinary procedures.
