The Pentagon announced on Monday that Ukraine will face no new limitations on the use of U.S. weapons against North Korean forces if they engage in combat. This comes as the Pentagon estimates that around 10,000 North Korean troops have been sent to eastern Russia for training.
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh noted, “Some of these soldiers have already moved closer to Ukraine, and we are increasingly concerned that Russia plans to employ them in combat or to support operations against Ukrainian forces in the Kursk Oblast near the border.”
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte mentioned that North Korean military units have been deployed to Russia’s Kursk region, which was recently captured by Ukrainian forces during a surprise summer offensive.
While Singh did not confirm the presence of North Korean troops in Kursk, she remarked, “It’s likely they are moving in that direction, but I don’t have further details at this time.”
