The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has initiated an investigation into a massive N20 billion land fraud scheme spanning the state.
At least 15 individuals have been arrested, including the Registrar of the Kano State High Court, three lawyers, and four Ministry of Lands officials.
Commission chairman Muhuyi RiminGado revealed this during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters on Thursday.
RiminGado explained that among those arrested were a current High Court Registrar, a former Deputy Sheriff, and a court bailiff linked to the fraudulent transactions. He also noted the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe state security service officers with N2 million, but the offer was declined.
RiminGado praised the Chief Judge of Kano, Justice Dije Aboki, for her support and cooperation.
He also thanked Governor Yusuf for instructing the commission to pursue all individuals involved, stressing that no one would be spared if found guilty, regardless of their position in the state.
