Former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has accused Democrats, without providing evidence, of attempting to manipulate the 2024 election.
Trump, who frequently discusses the outcome of the 2020 election he lost, has repeatedly cast doubt on the integrity of the upcoming election and made unfounded claims that Democrats are trying to cheat. Despite multiple courts dismissing his lawsuits, he continues to promote theories of widespread voter fraud from the 2020 election.
On Monday, October 21, he suggested that voter fraud could occur in California.
“We have some of the largest crowds you’ve ever seen. I was in California. I wish God would come down and count the votes just for one day to see how well we do in California,” Trump remarked about the predominantly Democratic state.
“Have you heard the saying that the vote counter is much more significant than the candidate? Unfortunately, we can’t let that happen. We need to reclaim it,” he stated at a rally in Greenville, North Carolina.
In his speech, Trump claimed that Democrats are attempting to rig the 2024 election, but assured the audience, “they’re not going to get away with it.”
He then addressed Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley, asking, “How are you doing? Are they cheating, Michael? They’re trying, but are they succeeding? They won’t get away with it, right?”
Turning back to the crowd, Trump added, “He said no. That’s why I chose him. They didn’t get away with it in this state, but they managed to in many others.”
