Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reassured residents that their tax contributions will be directed towards impactful projects aimed at fostering economic growth, rather than being wasted on unnecessary expenses.
The governor made this commitment during the inauguration of the second phase of upgraded and rehabilitated roads in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that his administration is focused on transforming the state and boosting productivity.
He explained, “Transportation infrastructure is the cornerstone of any successful economy. In Lagos, we understand that the smooth operation of our social and economic life relies heavily on a reliable and sustainable transportation network.”
“As we envisioned a Greater Lagos, we aimed to create a safe, clean, and prosperous state—one filled with opportunities and an improved quality of life for everyone.”
He noted that traffic congestion and flooding had been major barriers to the state’s development, adding, “These were challenges we could not overlook.”
Highlighting transportation and traffic management as a core priority in his administration’s THEMES+ Agenda, Sanwo-Olu explained that world-class road infrastructure is key to improving mobility, driving economic growth, and enhancing Lagos’ global competitiveness.
The governor also urged residents to take responsibility for preserving the quality of these projects by avoiding actions like dumping waste into drainage systems and illegal parking that could damage the roads’ longevity.
