To ensure Nigerians have access to cash via ATM withdrawals or Over-the-Counter (OTC) services, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has provided contact details for reporting issues with cash availability.
In a circular dated November 29, 2024, and obtained by PUNCH Online, the CBN reaffirmed its commitment to improving currency circulation and addressing cash scarcity across the nation. The circular, effective from December 1, 2024, was signed by the acting Director of Currency Operations, Solaja Olayemi, and the acting Director of Branch Operations, Isa-Olatinwo Aisha.
The circular directs Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) to ensure efficient cash disbursement both OTC and through ATMs, with the CBN intensifying oversight to ensure compliance.
How to Report Issues:
If you face difficulties withdrawing cash, either OTC or via ATMs, you are encouraged to report the issue using the following methods:
- Phone Call: Call the designated CBN branch in the state where the issue occurred.
- Email: Send an email detailing the incident (including the account name, DMB, amount, time, and date) to the relevant CBN state branch email address.
These steps are part of the CBN’s effort to address cash availability issues and improve currency circulation nationwide.
