The Katsina State Community Watch Corp (CWC) Batsari Command has apprehended Sanusi Bature, a suspected informant for bandits, who allegedly assisted in the abduction of over 50 individuals from Shirgi community.
Bature, a resident of Tsabawa village, was paraded by security forces on Thursday, November 21, 2024. In a video shared by the command, the suspect confessed to being paid 250,000 Naira for his involvement.
He admitted to providing crucial intelligence to the bandits about security movements. “My name is Sanusi Bature, from Tsabawa village. I acted as an informant for the bandits. They would call me to check if the area was secure because of the presence of security personnel,” he stated.
Bature further explained that he advised the bandits on when to avoid certain areas to protect their operations. He recounted the harrowing attack on Shirgi, where over 50 people were abducted, and shared that he was paid 250,000 Naira for his role in the operation.
“In my village of Tsabawa, seven people were kidnapped by the bandits, but they were later rescued,” Bature added. He also disclosed that the bandits contacted him to deliver his portion of the ransom money obtained from their victims.
