Nasiru Buba, who accused Jigawa Commissioner for Special Duties Auwal Danladi Sankara of having an affair with his wife, has rejected the Sharia Court’s ruling that cleared the politician of any wrongdoing.
Earlier, a Kano Upper Shari’a Court dismissed the adultery case, citing lack of evidence. Presiding Judge Ibrahim Sarki Yola explained that the case was struck out after the police investigation found no proof against the commissioner.
During a press briefing in Kano, Buba expressed his dissatisfaction with the court’s decision. He claimed to have submitted overwhelming evidence, including 854 pictures, 100+ video clips, over 200 voice notes from WhatsApp, and more than 500 hours of call records.
“These pieces of evidence, mostly obtained through my wife, Tasleem, should speak for themselves,” Buba said. “Even if the court cleared them, they are not cleared in the eyes of Allah or the public who know the truth. I leave the final judgment to Allah, Insha Allah.”
Buba’s lawyer, Rabi’u Sidi, stated that they were not informed about the court session, and therefore, could not attend. He emphasized that their team was a key party in the case but was not notified about the hearing. “We only learned about the ruling through the news,” Sidi added. He confirmed that the legal team would meet to decide the next steps.
It was reported that the Kano Hisbah board arrested the commissioner on August 17, 2024, at an uncompleted building with a married woman. Sankara has denied the allegation.
