The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has set his sights on Osun and Oyo States as the party’s next major targets following the victory of Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Ondo State’s recent gubernatorial election.
Speaking to journalists in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, Ganduje expressed confidence in the party’s performance and reiterated the significance of Aiyedatiwa’s win. He commended the governor-elect as a “sellable product” who resonated well with the electorate, thanking President Bola Tinubu for his strong support throughout the campaign.
“This victory is a testament to the power of democracy,” Ganduje stated. “What’s most important is that all key stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have affirmed that the election was free, fair, and credible. There is no doubt that the election was conducted with integrity, and the people of Ondo have chosen APC for continuity. This means no projects will be left unfinished.”
Ganduje also emphasized that Aiyedatiwa’s appeal to voters was rooted in his ability to connect with the public and effectively communicate the party’s vision. “He was a candidate that the people could relate to, and we successfully presented him to the electorate,” Ganduje added. “We also thank President Tinubu for his unwavering support in this endeavor.”
Looking ahead, Ganduje outlined the APC’s next objectives. “Our focus now turns to Osun and Oyo States,” he declared. “We are confident in our ability to secure victories there as well. As always, we are determined to hit our targets and continue our progress across the country.”
The statement underscores the APC’s strategic expansion plans as it seeks to consolidate its hold on key states in the southwestern region ahead of future elections. With the success in Ondo, the party’s leadership is optimistic that similar strategies will yield positive results in Osun and Oyo, paving the way for further political dominance in the region.
