
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abia State has apprehended three individuals for their involvement in the vandalism of an oil pipeline, theft of petroleum products, and illicit trade of fuel in the Umuowaga Umuelechi Obuzo Asa area of Ukwa West Local Government Area.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday in a statement by Doreen Udugwu, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Abia Command.
The operation was carried out following credible intelligence, which led the command’s anti-vandal patrol team to act quickly. During the operation, a significant amount of stolen petroleum products was seized.
The suspects have been identified as Oscar Eteobong, 37, and Isaac Aniete Edemba Udoh, 40, both from Abak and Obot Akara local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, and Emmanuel Uzoma Sunday, 20, from Isiala-Ngwa North, Abia State.
Akinaola Aderemi, the NSCDC Commandant for Abia State, stated that investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend all individuals involved in sabotaging the country’s economy.
