
A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Safwan Fade, was beaten to death by hoodlums in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Fade, who was serving at the Federal College of Education (FCE) Pankshin, was attacked by a group of assailants at a local stadium. The incident was confirmed by Plateau State’s Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, during a briefing in Jos on Tuesday.
Adesina revealed that two suspects, Samuel Dang Kat and Zatshinen Wubwerwe, were arrested in connection with the assault that led to the death of the corps member. In total, 24 suspects were apprehended for various offenses.
The Commissioner explained that the attack occurred on January 22, 2025, when Fade was severely beaten by unknown assailants. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was initially stable but later transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where he died.
Following a thorough investigation, the two suspects were arrested, and efforts are underway to capture additional suspects. The Commissioner assured the public that justice would be served.
He also expressed gratitude to the citizens for their support in the fight against crime, highlighting the police’s recent successes, including the arrest of criminals and the recovery of weapons.
Adesina commended the media and the public for their cooperation and support, which has been essential in the police’s operations and their ongoing efforts to curb criminal activity in the state.
