The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed rumors about the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) under a new set of rules.
In a statement titled “Disclaimer: SARS Remains Dissolved,” issued on Monday in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi reaffirmed that SARS, which was dissolved on October 11, 2020, remains permanently disbanded.
He stated, “SARS is not back in operation. The recent claims about its reformation and new rules should be regarded with caution.”
ACP Adejobi urged Nigerians to verify information through credible sources: “For accurate updates, citizens should follow the Nigeria Police Force’s official social media handles: @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of public awareness: “Stay informed and vigilant for your safety.”
