A pregnant woman has tragically passed away after a doctor allegedly used a YouTube video to guide them through performing a Cesarean Section in Imo State.
According to News360 Nigeria, a Cesarean Section (CS) is a surgical procedure to deliver a baby through an incision in the mother’s abdomen and uterus.
The woman’s husband, Onyekachi Eze, shared his story in a social media video, where he was seen at the Imo Police Command with well-known Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop to report the incident on Tuesday.
Eze revealed that the tragic event took place at Lebechi Hospital in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. He recounted, “I took my wife to the hospital when she was in labor, and the doctor told us she needed an operation due to bleeding. A female doctor then called in another doctor to assist with the procedure. While I was there, they were watching a YouTube video on their phones to learn how to perform the surgery. I lost both my wife and my baby during the operation.”
Following the incident, Stanley posted another video showing the arrest of the hospital’s owner by the police, while the doctors who carried out the surgery have gone into hiding.
He captioned the video, saying, “The owner of the hospital, where doctors resorted to YouTube to learn how to perform surgery on a pregnant woman, has been arrested. Nurses were also taken into custody, but the doctors involved in the surgery have fled. Authorities are still searching for them.”
