The faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, led by Emeka Beke, accused Tony Okocha of attempting to force former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, out of the party.
Spokesman Darlington Nwauju explained that Okocha’s attacks on Amaechi stem from this agenda. Okocha recently labeled Amaechi a failed politician who didn’t bring any projects to the region or state.
“Why is Amaechi’s name the only tool Tony Okocha and his group use for political leverage? Okocha’s main goal is to alienate original party stakeholders like Amaechi and drive him out of the APC, which Amaechi helped build in Rivers State,” Nwauju stated.
Nwauju also criticized Okocha’s strategy of tarnishing others’ reputations for political gain.
APC leader Eze Chukwuemeka Eze countered Okocha’s claims, highlighting Amaechi’s role in securing over 15 key projects in the South-South and bringing several South-South figures into federal appointments.
Eze clarified that Amaechi’s tenure as Minister saw numerous projects, including the 39km Bonny Bodo road and its two bridges, a N120 billion initiative on par with the 2nd Niger bridge.
Responding to Okocha’s criticism of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s performance, Eze suggested that Okocha lacks understanding of governance.
