Just eight days after receiving a pardon from Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, former inmate Sunday Omisakin has been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Facility. He was accused of breaking into a house and stealing a television.
Omisakin, who was number 8 on the governor’s December 26, 2024, list of pardons for minor offenses, was arrested on January 3, 2025, for allegedly burgling a residence in Osogbo and stealing a plasma TV valued at N600,000.
The suspect faced charges of burglary and theft before the Osun State Magistrate Court, where Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba presided.
Police prosecutor Inspector Kayode Adeoye stated, “On January 3, 2025, around 12:00 p.m., Omisakin broke into Shittu Damilare’s home in Al-Medinat Area, Iludun, Osogbo, and stole a plasma TV worth N600,000.”
Omisakin was remanded in custody pending further court proceedings, with charges under sections 411 (1)(2), 363, and 390(9) of the Osun State Criminal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty, and his lawyer, Najite Okobe, requested bail on liberal terms. However, the prosecutor objected, noting that Omisakin had only recently been pardoned after serving part of his previous sentence.
