Sani Murtala, the brother-in-law of Katsina State Assembly member Alhaji Ibrahim Danjuma Machika, has passed away following a gunshot wound.
The tragic incident occurred in Machika town during a condolence visit by Governor Dikko Umar Radda. The governor had arrived to offer his sympathies to the family of the late father of the assembly member.
Reports indicate that security personnel from the Community Watch Corps, who were part of the governor’s security team, discharged shots into the air during the visit. Regrettably, a stray bullet struck Murtala and several others who were in the vicinity.
Murtala later died from his injuries, while those who were wounded are currently receiving medical treatment.
