Tyson Fury, the former world heavyweight champion, officially announced his retirement from boxing on Monday, bringing an end to his illustrious career in the ring.
The 36-year-old fighter, who has long been considered one of the most dominant figures in the heavyweight division, made the announcement via a social media post. In a brief yet heartfelt message, Fury stated, “I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it.”
Fury, also known as the “Gypsy King,” last fought in December, where he faced Oleksandr Usyk in a highly anticipated rematch in Riyadh, which resulted in a loss for the British boxer.
Following the defeat, Fury was asked if he would return to the ring in the future, to which he responded, “You might do, you might not do. Who knows?” leaving fans uncertain about his next steps.
Throughout his career, Fury enjoyed two reigns as heavyweight champion, finishing his boxing journey with an impressive record of 34 wins, two defeats, and one draw.
Despite his retirement announcement, Fury has previously reversed his decisions regarding the future of his career. After his victory over Dillian Whyte in April 2022, Fury declared his retirement, only to return to the ring later that same year.
