Aliu Yunusa, a herdsman leader in Ondo State, has reportedly been killed by suspected kidnappers near the Ilu-Abo junction in Akure South Local Government Area.
Yunusa was on his way to his ranch when he was ambushed by the attackers. Earlier, they had kidnapped his wife, but Yunusa courageously confronted them and managed to rescue her. Tragically, the assailants returned, overpowered him, and brutally killed him.
Chief Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Amotekun Corps, confirmed the incident. He revealed that the attackers, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, targeted Yunusa while attempting to rustle his cattle.
“They kidnapped his wife earlier, but he fought them off and retrieved her. Unfortunately, they came back, overpowered him, and hacked him to death,” Adeleye stated.
Fellow herdsmen who discovered Yunusa’s body alerted the Amotekun Corps. Officers found his lifeless body with multiple machete wounds, and his motorcycle had been set ablaze.
Adeleye assured that Amotekun operatives are actively searching the forest to apprehend the perpetrators.
