Rabiu Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed allegations of any agreement involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.
Kwankwaso denied reports suggesting a rotational leadership plan, which allegedly proposed him governing Nigeria for four years, Atiku for another four, and Obi for eight years.
In an interview with the BBC, the former governor of Kano State expressed surprise at such claims, stating he was unaware of any such arrangement.
However, he acknowledged hearing rumors that members of Atiku’s camp have been engaging with regional leaders and clerics to promote this narrative.
Kwankwaso said:
“I find this very disappointing.
“They claimed I agreed to a deal where Atiku would serve for four years, I would take over for another four, and Peter Obi would serve for eight.
“This is entirely false—no such agreement ever existed.
“It is this type of dishonesty and manipulation that led to our departure. Myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and others all left because of such treatment.
“Now they’re approaching us again, expecting support to help those who disrespected us achieve their ambitions.”
