Media reports confirmed yesterday the abduction of Hon. Justice Azuka, the representative of Onitsha North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, in Onitsha, the state’s commercial hub.
The lawmaker was arriving in Onitsha to join his family for the Christmas celebrations when the attackers struck.
As I have consistently warned, if left unchecked, the growing threat of insecurity will eventually engulf us all. These criminals are becoming increasingly brazen in their actions, and if they are not stopped, no one will be safe.
I truly appreciate the efforts of those on the frontlines working to secure lives and property across Nigeria. However, it is now more important than ever that we intensify our efforts and make further sacrifices to defeat this threat of insecurity.
I call on the security forces to ensure that Hon. Justice Azuka is rescued safely and returned to his family, and that those responsible for this crime are apprehended and brought to justice. -PO
