Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the representative for Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State and spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately.
In a statement on December 6, Imo PDP Publicity Secretary Lancelot Obiak confirmed the expulsion, citing reasons such as gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities.
The expulsion, dated December 5, 2024, was communicated through a letter from the Ideato LGA chapter, signed by the LGA Chairman, Hon. ThankGod Okeke, and Secretary Onyebuchi Umeh.
The PDP stated that the decision followed a report by the party’s disciplinary committee, which investigated allegations against Ugochinyere in line with Section 57 (1-4) of the PDP constitution 2017.
Ugochinyere had been suspended by his Umuopia/Umukegwu ward on October 14, 2024, after failing to attend a disciplinary meeting on October 5 and ignoring subsequent invitations.
On December 5, the Ideato North LGA Executive Committee unanimously approved the committee’s findings, leading to Ugochinyere’s expulsion.
The PDP outlined his violations, including skipping meetings, unauthorized publicity of internal issues, forming parallel structures at various levels, and making derogatory remarks about the party and its leaders. These actions were deemed damaging to the party’s reputation.
