Suspected bandits attacked a vehicle carrying Jummai Kefas, mother of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, on Thursday morning along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area. The governor’s sister, Atsi Kefas, was injured with a gunshot wound during the attack.
The Chairperson of Wukari LGA, Dauda Agbu, confirmed the incident on Friday, December 6, calling it “deeply troubling.” He assured that no lives were lost, adding, “Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot injury. She was treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari, where her condition was stabilized before being airlifted to Abuja for further care.”
Agbu urged calm among residents, emphasizing that security forces were ramping up efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the robbery, though he clarified that the initial report did not confirm that the victims were related to the governor. “We received a report about an armed robbery on Wukari-Kente road early yesterday, but we can’t confirm the identities of the victims at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and we hope the perpetrators will be caught soon,” he said.
