The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 34-year-old Sunday Moses, a suspected gunrunner, and recovered 364 rounds of live ammunition, two hand grenades, and other weapons.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said Moses was arrested for the illegal importation of ammunition into the state.
To ensure safety during the upcoming holiday season and ongoing harvest, the police have ramped up visibility policing and criminal hideout raids. The operations, which began on December 1, 2024, led to Moses’ arrest in Kwatau village, Hong Local Government Area.
The police successfully cleared areas in Adamawa, including Song, Gombi, and Hong Local Government Areas, resulting in significant weapon recoveries. The items seized included 193 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 171 rounds of 9×19 pistol ammunition, and two hand grenades.
“These operations have disrupted several criminal hideouts, preventing criminals from regrouping,” the statement added.
Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, thanked the public for their support and urged continued vigilance, emphasizing the importance of sharing timely information to maintain peace and security.
