Gunmen believed to be cultists have killed Justice Onyekachukwu Elimani a day before his traditional wedding in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Onyekachukwu and his fiancée, Blessing, were set to marry on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Umusam, Kwale.
According to eyewitnesses, Elimani and another victim, identified as Double C, were killed in separate attacks on Friday, November 22.
One witness stated that Elimani was ambushed by suspected rival cult members while walking with friends to buy wedding items. Double C’s body was later found at Utagba-Uno Junction.
A third victim was injured and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed location.
In response, security forces have set up roadblocks across the area to prevent further violence and maintain order.
On November 13, Onyeka had shared his pre-wedding photos and invitation on Facebook, writing, “Love is not just a feeling; it’s a decision to stay, give, and grow together, even when it’s hard. It’s the strength found in each other’s arms, the warmth in each other’s laughter, and the peace in each other’s presence. Please join us on November 23 in Umusam, Kwale, Delta State. It’s all about love.”
