The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has demolished 138 illegal shanties along the Ajao Estate canal. The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources shared the news on his X page on Friday, November 15.
Wahab stated: “As part of ongoing efforts to tackle environmental violations and unlawful settlements in public areas, LAGESC (also known as KAI) on Thursday removed 138 shanties situated along the canal bank in Ajao Estate. These structures were being rented out to illegal occupants who paid between N60,000 to N100,000 annually.”
The move is part of broader efforts to restore order and reduce illegal encampments in Lagos.
