Four lecturers at Kogi University, Lokoja, have been dismissed following allegations of sexual misconduct and examination malpractice. The university’s governing council approved the decision during its meeting on Thursday, November 14.
The lecturers had been under investigation since last year, after students accused them of engaging in sexual harassment and malpractice during examinations. The council, led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, praised the university management for following due process throughout the investigation.
“The council will not tolerate unethical conduct at the university,” the statement read. It also urged the university to expedite the resolution of other misconduct cases, particularly one involving the Faculty of Science that has recently gained media attention.
The council reinforced its commitment to ensuring a safe and ethical environment, cautioning all staff members and lecturers against any form of molestation or abuse of students. It encouraged students to speak out if they experience any form of harassment, stressing that no case of misconduct will be ignored.
