Pastor E.A. Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has credited divine intervention for preventing the naira from plummeting to ₦10,000 per dollar. Speaking at the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye reflected on Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges, pointing to the country’s reliance on imported fuel despite its oil reserves as a key factor.
The pastor highlighted the billions of naira spent on refineries that remain largely non-functional, which he said continues to drain the economy. He also addressed the financial strain caused by the government’s removal of fuel subsidies, a move that has led to widespread discontent among citizens who previously benefited from the subsidies.
Adeboye stressed that Nigeria’s economic troubles cannot be solved by human efforts alone but require divine intervention. He shared his concerns about the naira’s rapid decline and expressed gratitude for prayers that helped stabilize the situation. “If God hadn’t intervened, $1 could have been worth ₦10,000 by now. We need prayers more than ever,” he said.
