Miss South Africa Mia le Roux Withdraws from Miss Universe Due to Health Concerns
Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has officially withdrawn from the 73rd Miss Universe pageant due to health issues. Le Roux, the first deaf contestant in Miss Universe history, had been in Mexico for several weeks preparing for the finale, set for Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The Miss South Africa organization confirmed the news in a statement on Friday, expressing their regret. “It is with deep regret that we announce Mia Le Roux has withdrawn from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns,” the statement read.
The organization praised Le Roux for her courage, stating, “Mia has shown incredible strength throughout this difficult time. Her health and well-being are our top priority, and we are fully committed to supporting her as she focuses on recovery.”
Le Roux, 28, shared her gratitude, saying, “I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision was incredibly difficult, knowing the dreams and hopes placed upon me. However, I am grateful to focus on my health so I can continue serving my country with full strength.”
