Hope Walz, daughter of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, expressed her deep frustration and heartbreak over her father’s election loss and Kamala Harris’ failed White House bid, declaring that America “does not deserve” the Vice President.
In an emotional TikTok video posted Thursday, November 7, Hope said, “I’ve reached the point of anger—and I’m not someone who gets angry easily. But thinking about what this country has done to Kamala Harris, I just can’t help it. We don’t deserve her. She should be out there living her best life, doing whatever makes her happy, because she’s given everything to this country, and it still wasn’t enough.”
Hope also addressed the critical role black women played in the election, stating, “The only group who truly delivered this election was black women, and we’ve failed them.” She called the loss “heartbreaking” and urged Democrats and Harris’ supporters to keep pushing forward despite the setback, saying, “We have to do everything we can to support them and our communities through the next four years under the Trump administration.”
The 23-year-old also took aim at her father’s Republican opponents, President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance, who had debated Governor Walz in New York before the election. Hope said, “They have to live with themselves, and honestly, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone—except maybe Trump and Vance.”
Despite the anger and sadness, Hope emphasized that she remains committed to the values of love, hope, joy, and progress. “I’m grateful to be who I am, and I’m on the side of the right fight,” she said.
Hope shared with her followers that she’s taking time to mourn and process the loss. “I’m giving myself this week to grieve what could’ve been. But after that, it’s time to move on and do the work. We’ve got this, America. We’ll be okay.”
