Donald Trump has appointed his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, as his White House chief of staff, making her the first woman to hold the position in U.S. history.
In a statement, Trump praised Wiles as a “tough, smart, and innovative” leader who played a pivotal role in his past political victories. “Susie just helped me win one of the greatest political battles in history, and she’ll continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again,” he added.
Wiles, known for running Trump’s most disciplined campaigns, was credited with keeping fringe elements at bay and managing access to the former president. She insisted on having control over who can reach Trump, a decision Trump reportedly agreed with after challenges during his first term.
A seasoned political strategist, Wiles is a long-time ally of Trump and has earned respect for her behind-the-scenes work, including managing his campaign’s flight manifest and guiding his post-presidency efforts.
While other candidates, including Brooke Rollins, were considered for the role, Wiles ultimately emerged as the clear frontrunner. She is now set to make history as the second-most-powerful person in the White House.
