The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has assured that the commission is fully prepared to conduct a free and fair governorship election in Ondo State on November 16.
During a visit to INEC’s Local Government Area (LGA) offices in the state, Yakubu expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation so far, noting that the remaining task was the arrival of sensitive election materials, scheduled for Tuesday next week.
He outlined the process leading up to the election:
- Wednesday: Inspection of sensitive materials by all relevant stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, observers, media, security agencies, and INEC officials.
- Thursday: Distribution of materials to LGAs.
- Friday: Final inspection at the LGA level before materials are moved to the wards.
Yakubu also confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines have been fully charged and configured for the election.
