A fire broke out on Sunday evening, November 3, at Ajah Market, near Alesh Bus Stop in the Lekki area of Lagos State, destroying goods worth millions of Naira.
The blaze reportedly began around 9 PM and affected multiple shops and stores filled with combustible materials. Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), stated that the agency, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, responded quickly to contain the fire.
As of now, the cause of the fire is still unknown. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities, as traders were absent due to the market being closed on Sunday.
“The LASEMA Response Team, alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings,” Oke-Osanyintolu reported. “Efforts are ongoing to fully extinguish the flames and recover any remaining valuables.”
