The Bauchi State Police Command has taken a 20-year-old woman into custody for allegedly plotting the murder of her father-in-law, whom she accused of practicing witchcraft and blamed for her son’s death last year.
Authorities discovered the victim’s body in a bush between Wuro Dangogo and Sarma village in the Misau Local Government Area. During a briefing at the Police Headquarters on Yandoka Road, Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad stated that the victim, Damina Lamba, was found dead with signs of a severe head injury.
The Misau Divisional Police, led by the divisional police officer, responded quickly and transported the body to General Hospital Misau, where medical staff confirmed that Mr. Lamba had died from his injuries.
In response, the police initiated an investigation to determine those responsible for this violent act. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the crime on October 30, 2024.
The suspects, all from Wuro Dangogo in Sarma Ward, include Abdu Lamba, 20, Ruwa Aliyu, 22, and Rakiya Ya’u, 20. The Commissioner revealed that during questioning, both Abdu and Ruwa admitted to their involvement, stating they were hired by Rakiya to carry out the murder.
According to their confessions, Rakiya believed her father-in-law’s witchcraft had caused her son’s death the previous year, prompting her to seek revenge.
Police recovered two sticks believed to have been used in the crime from the scene, and the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.
