The Niger State House of Assembly has raised alarms over the takeover of the Nagwamase Military Cantonment in Kontagora by terrorists, displacing around 23 farming communities in the process.
This camp, which serves as a key training facility for the Nigerian Army Artillery Corps, is reportedly now a stronghold for armed groups, with at least eight additional camps established nearby.
Abdullahi Isah, representing Kontagora II, highlighted that local communities have faced severe attacks, with some residents still missing after recent abductions.
In response, the Assembly has urged the State Government to urgently collaborate with military authorities to eliminate the terrorists from the camp and restore safety, allowing displaced residents to return home. They also called for increased support for the military to secure the area and maintain peace.
