Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) over claims of homosexuality involving young members, has responded to the allegations.
In a letter dated October 28, 2024, RCCG’s national overseer, Sunday Akande, announced the suspensions of AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa, emphasizing that the church does not condone homosexuality and will conduct a thorough investigation.
In an Instagram post titled “My Response to the Allegations of Sodomizing Teenagers,” AdeBello denied the claims, stating he has never engaged in sexual acts with male teenagers. He explained that comments from a now-viral WhatsApp conversation were taken out of context, as the discussion focused on male reproductive health and self-esteem.
“I wanted to respond earlier but held back as I was not the only one named. However, the escalation of these allegations has compelled me to clarify that my silence has been misinterpreted as guilt,” he said.
“I have NEVER sought sexual favors for assistance or opportunities. God is the ultimate authority who appoints leaders,” he continued.
AdeBello also clarified that he has never had any sexual interactions with someone named Mr. Jedidiah, expressing disappointment that his words were twisted to imply inappropriate behavior with minors.
