The Niger Delta Development Force has issued a stern warning that it will shut down oil facilities in the region if President Bola Tinubu does not take action against Nyesom Wike’s alleged attempts to undermine Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement released by spokesman Justin Alabraba, the group expressed deep frustration over Wike’s purported plans to use a friendly judge to secure rulings that would halt local government funding in Rivers. They emphasized that any judicial decision jeopardizing local governance would trigger an immediate and forceful response, including attacks on major oil installations.
The group accused Wike of leveraging his federal influence to intimidate Fubara and declared, “We won’t tolerate this any longer.” They articulated that further hostility towards Fubara would result in direct actions against oil facilities, asserting, “This is not a threat; it’s a promise. Enough is enough. We will not stand by while our interests are disregarded.”
The militants stressed that Rivers State belongs to its people, not to Wike, and warned that if their demands are ignored, the consequences would be severe and unyielding.
