A tragic incident unfolded in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Sunday, October 20, where gunmen reportedly killed at least 16 people, mostly young men, in what appears to be a cult-related conflict.
Although unconfirmed, reports suggest the attack resulted from a violent clash between rival cult groups. A disturbing video circulating on social media shows the bodies of several victims, raising alarm over the growing violence in the area.
One Facebook user cautioned residents to stay away from the community, writing: “Avoid Nibo today. Many lives have been lost in what seems to be a cult clash. Our youths are dying in large numbers.”
Another user, Ifeyinwa Okeke, reported that Amaku Teaching Hospital’s emergency ward was overwhelmed by victims from the attack. “The emergency ward at Amaku Teaching Hospital is packed with victims. It was a terrible sight,” she shared.
As of now, state authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the tragic event.
