Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that the party is ready to reassert its dominance in the Southwest, starting with the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Ganduje was joined by key figures such as Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and Ogun State’s SSG, Talabi Olatokunbo. He outlined the APC’s plan to strengthen its presence ahead of the 2027 general election, particularly targeting victories in Oyo and Osun States to solidify support for President Bola Tinubu.
“In this region, we must achieve total success for the APC. Ondo State must lead the charge. Oyo and Osun will follow, but I won’t disclose our strategy. We are planning carefully, and we must ensure 100 percent support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Ganduje stated.
The APC Chairman also expressed full confidence in the reelection of Ondo’s Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, assuring that the national leadership was firmly behind him. “We are fully supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming election. We’ve made the necessary arrangements, and I’m pleased to announce Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Chairman of the National Campaign Council,” Ganduje said.
He called on party members to intensify grassroots efforts, urging them to mobilize voters. “This election is a task that must be accomplished. The large turnout of stakeholders shows unity and strength within the party. We aim for 90 percent voter turnout in the upcoming election. It’s time to go from house to house, neighbor to neighbor, ensuring people turn out to vote.”
Ganduje also appealed for party unity, encouraging those who ran against Aiyedatiwa in the primary election to set aside differences and collaborate for victory. “To the aspirants who ran against Aiyedatiwa, remember there are no winners or losers in this process. It’s time for all of us to unite for the success of our party,” he concluded.
